Off-leash dog parks from Hermosa to San Pedro

Updated October 1, 2026

The South Bay has plenty of dogs and not many places to let them off the leash. Between Hermosa Beach and San Pedro we could confirm five off-leash dog areas, three of them within a few miles of each other. Several cities have none at all. Here's what exists, where it is, and the rules worth knowing before you go. We list only parks we could confirm with the city or the group that runs them.

Redondo Beach Dog Park

2615 190th Street, Redondo Beach, at the southeast corner of Flagler Lane and 190th, inside Dominguez Park.

At about three acres, this is the biggest dog park in the area, and it has been open since 1992. It has separate large-dog and small-dog sections, water for dogs and people, and scoopers on site. Restrooms are near the baseball field next door. The volunteer Friends of the Redondo Beach Dog Park run it.

Hours: dawn to dusk daily, except Wednesdays, when it stays closed until noon for maintenance. Wednesday mornings are when the most people learn this the hard way.

Polliwog Park Dog Run, Manhattan Beach

At the west end of Polliwog Park, next to Begg Field. It's the largest of Manhattan Beach's dog runs and opened in 2010.

Hours: opens at 6:30am daily. Closing time shifts with the season, so check the sign.

Rules from the city's posted list: dogs must be licensed and vaccinated, with leashes on outside the run. No unaltered dogs a year or older, and no aggressive dogs or dogs in heat. Two dogs per person, and the owner has to be inside the run. No food, treats, strollers or babies. If other dogs are waiting, leave after 15 minutes.

Live Oak Park Dog Run, Manhattan Beach

A smaller run in Live Oak Park, north of the tennis courts, serving the east side of town, past Sepulveda. Hours follow the park's posted schedule. In Manhattan Beach, Veterans Parkway is the only park outside the dog runs where leashed dogs are allowed, so the runs get a lot of use.

Rancho Caninos, Rancho Palos Verdes

30940 Hawthorne Boulevard, inside Point Vicente Park at the RPV Civic Center.

Rancho Caninos is about half an acre, with separate small-dog and large-dog areas on cedar chips. It has shade, water, and restrooms and parking next door. It opened in 2012 as a temporary park, and in Peninsula terms temporary seems to mean permanent.

Hours: one hour before sunrise to one hour after sunset.

Rules: dogs wear current license and vaccination tags, and each dog uses the area for its size. No more than two dogs per person, and no unattended dogs. Children under 14 need an adult. No aggressive dogs or females in heat, and no food or glass. Questions go to RPV Recreation at 310-544-5260.

Eastview Dog Park, Rancho Palos Verdes

1700 Westmont Drive, on the east side of RPV near San Pedro.

The city's project page shows the finished park and its ribbon cutting. It's the closest verified off-leash park for San Pedro, Harbor City and Lomita. Rules and hours are posted at the gate. RPV Recreation at 310-544-5260 can answer questions.

Cities without one, for now

Before you go

A good park visit also means a good yard visit when you get home. We keep the yard clear, so the dog park is the only place your dog has to share.
